Damian - The Dog From Hell (The End)

Days rolled by into years, Damian was growing older but mind you not weaker. He was still a terror and as bold and valiant as ever. Things around him was changing, my brother and I moved out for higher education and then permanently when we both got married. Dami and Doodle were the two kids for my parents now after we both have moved out.

Damian - The Dog From Hell

My parents got Damian neutered. The surgery went okay but in no time Damian developed an infection and had to be put on many drugs. Doodle came to heat and managing him was getting tougher, he would rip steel mesh and strong partitions to get to her and in the process his stitches came undone. He was rushed to the hospital, he recovered and healed, the vet discharged him and he came home.

Damian was not the same, he kept falling ill frequently, would go without eating for long hours, skip meals and eat voraciously all at once during the next meal. Going long hours without food and eating large quantities rapidly causes intestines flipping in dogs, even more so in breeds like German Shepard. Dami developed the same and had to be treated. As he just recovered from the surgery the doctor wanted to wait a bit and prescribed few injections that needed to be administered immediately should it happen again.

Weeks went by and Dami looked his usual self and normal. My mom was always the one looking after the pets, keeping their appointments, taking them for surgeries, following up on the medicines. As Dami looked all fine, she decided to come to spend some time with me and help me set up my new home.

Another week passed, when suddenly we got a call from my dad that Dami was vomiting and had a bit of bloating, the vet made a house call and treated him. The vert assured there was nothing to worry and he is doing fine, my mom wanted to leave immediately but Dami seemed fine so my dad asked her to continue. It was a night like any other, all the three dogs - the dad, the mom and their daughter Pepper had eaten and were running around the house, dad was up keeping an eye on Dami for a long time and as everything seemed fine he retired for the night. Late in to the night, maybe around 3-4am Dami had another instance of intestine flipping and before any would know or do something he bloated and chocked to death.

Damian was a legend, he had left behind a legacy and permanently raised the bar for guard dogs, he was unique, loving, gentle, ferocious, courageous and bold. He was more than family to us and a hero who guarded us with his life. He will forever be remembered and revered. Damian, The Dog From Hell!!
